EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
ABOUT OUR SUMMER PROGRAMS
Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry consists of two sites – Camp Hiawatha and Camp Vermilion. While each site offers a unique camping experience, Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry (VLM) strives to provide opportunities for Christ-centered Spiritual Growth, Leadership Development and Outreach in God’s Great Northwoods. We do this through a wide variety of summer programs that reach God’s children of all ages.
Despite their differences, the camps of VLM offer a small group experience, which gives each camper a chance to lead, follow, participate and share throughout their time at camp. All of our programs are designed to meet the needs and abilities of each age group, while also seeking to empower them to continue living out their faith when they return home. Community building through the use of our challenge course and an understanding of and appreciation for God’s creations are also key aspects to each program.
CAMP HIAWATHA
Camp Hiawatha, located near Deer River, MN (roughly 15 miles north of Grand Rapids), sits on the west side of Deer Lake. This peaceful and beautiful setting provides campers an opportunity to play, grown and learn through worship, Bible study, swimming, canoeing, games, camp outs and various sports. From the moment the sun rises over the lake through evening campfire, the sound of laughter and singing echo across the water.
CAMP VERMILION
Camp Vermilion, located north of Cook, MN, is situated on beautiful Lake Vermilion. This site offers a more rustic camp experience, providing campers a chance to learn more about the creation around them as they explore the beauty and awesomeness of the northwoods. The Gospel is experienced not only through Bible studies and worships, but also through interactions on the waterfront, in the craft area, on a camp out, during games or sitting around a table in the dining hall.
Camp Vermilion also serves as home base to our Canoe Country program, which provides canoe adventures in and around the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. There is nothing quite like a week in the Boundary Waters, challenging yourself and your group to do more and be more than you ever thought possible. The Gospel comes to life as each group seeks to live in community in this unique area of Minnesota.
