at Camp Vermilion
Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry believes in showing youth that God is a part of everything they do – be it sports, swimming, canoeing, learning, worshipping or hanging out with friends. Sports Camp at Camp Vermilion offers young athletes the opportunity to hone their skills while having a Christ-centered Bible camp experience.
This week is about learning and practicing new skills on the court and in daily life and about balancing hard work and play. A week of Sports Camp will help participants see that it is great to be alive in God’s great northwoods!
Highlights of Sports Camp:
- Plenty of training time each day
- Excellent Coaching Staff
- Daily campfire, all-camp games, worship, small group team building, and interactive Bible studies.
- Great meals for hungry athletes
- Outstanding Counselors
*Participants need to provide their own practice clothes and shoes.
We are excited to have coaches from Concordia University in St. Paul leading the daily training sessions. The team of coaches are led by Brian Jamros, a Moose Lake native, who currently serves as the Assistant Athletic Director for Development at Concordia University. As a student at Concordia, Brian played basketball and was named the University’s Male Athlete of the Year for the 2004-05 season and earned All-NSIC First Team honors during his junior and senior seasons. He finished second all-time on the Concordia scoring charts with 1,371 points, had a 15.2 scoring average and made 245 three-pointers. He holds school records for most points in a season and for three-point field goals. Brian also helped to lead Concordia University to its first-ever NSIC Tournament victory during his senior year.
Brian is a graduate of Moose Lake High School and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in sport management. He also holds a Masters degree in organizational management.
